Heartmath is a unique heart focused, yet scientific approach to emotional and behavioural change.
Our hearts are sensitive to the effects of anxiety and stress and we can see this in the measure of heart rhythms.
By shifting this rhythm of the heart to a more coherent state, this will help correct alignment between our heart to our brain as the signals are sent through our nervous system which can have profound effects on our mental clarity and emotions.
Heartmath created a number of fast and powerful techniques which are designed to be used when you need them in real time, for example during difficult situations such as before a meeting or before a difficult conversation. Any time you may feel stressed.
The aim is to create a state of balance which can be achieved to help you engage more productively in a situation but from a more objective state of coherence.
This specific breathing pattern technique has a direct effect on our hormones, and can stimulate Oxytocin, which produces feelings of positivity, whilst lowering stress and anxiety levels.
If we do not control these levels, over a  period of time our chances of illness is greatly enhanced. These can begin mildly such as dizziness, nausea, fatigue but then may build up to greater imbalances such as Hypertension, Fibromyalgia, PMS, Depression etc.
Heartmath uses biofeedback technologies to measure and validate the impact of the techniques to give you real time insight into your emotional, mental and physical state.

The Power of the Heart Breath

HeartMath’s Heart-Focused Breathing® Technique can guide you to a state of ease in just a few minutes.

The technique is as powerful as it is simple and can be used anytime you want to create greater relaxation or more energy.

Heart-Focused Breathing™ Technique

1. Heart Focus: Focus your attention on your heart area. Breathe a little deeper than normal, in for 5 or 6 seconds and out 5 or 6 seconds. You may find that placing your hand over your heart helps you maintain your focus there.
2. Heart Breathing: Now imagine while breathing that you’re doing it through your heart. Picture yourself slowly breathing in and slowly breathing out through your heart area.

(Maintaining your focus and breathing through the heart area leads you naturally into a state of ease. When you’re ready to proceed with the rest of your day, you’ll do so with more energy and resilience for future challenges.)

Physiological Coherence

“Coherence is the state when the heart, mind and emotions are in energetic alignment and cooperation,” according to HeartMath Institute Research Director Dr. Rollin McCraty. “When the physiological coherence mode is driven by a positive emotional state, we call it psychophysiological coherence.”

Those who’ve practiced Heart-Focused Breathing through the years say they have experienced: a sense of being uplifted and alive; more peaceful and less rushed in their busy lives; a deeper heart connection within and with others
